July 27th, City Council Meeting
Recognition of First Responders & EOC Staff:
The Council extended formal gratitude to the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department (LPFD), CalFire, Pleasanton Police Department, mutual aid partners, and the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) staff for their coordinated response to the 1,007-acre "Little Fire". The incident required evacuating over 6,000 residents and threatening nearly 2,000 homes, resulting in zero structures destroyed and no life-threatening injuries.
ALPR Data Policy Clarification:
The City Manager and Police Chief addressed community concerns regarding Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) data. They acknowledged past errors in the legacy Vigilant/Motorola system that allowed potential access by a federal border patrol sector. Officials confirmed all legacy Vigilant cameras have been deactivated (with physical removal ongoing for one remaining unit on a Caltrans pole), and the active Flock system is strictly configured to exclude access by federal and out-of-state agencies.
Consent Calendar Approved:
The Council unanimously approved items 1 through 12, including:
Employment contract amendments for the interim city manager regarding CalPERS enrollment.
Grant funding applications to the Alameda County Transportation Commission (ACTC) for major infrastructure and bike/pedestrian safety projects (including the I-580 overcrossing and West Las Positas Boulevard updates).
Proclamation Issued:
Council Member presented a proclamation commending the Pleasanton Community of Character Collaborative for promoting local goodwill, integrity, and core community values.
Public Comment Period:
Community members spoke on bicycle safety funding concerns and raised issues during open public comment regarding civil rights, immigration enforcement (ICE), and local law enforcement data practices
